In deze lezing zal Myrthe Leijnse ons vertellen over haar PhD onderzoek bij het National World Water Map project. 💧
Waterschaarste is een grote bedreiging voor mensen en ecosystemen in veel plekken op de wereld. In haar PhD doet Myrthe onderzoek naar hotspots van waterschaarste – regio’s waar de watervraag groter is dan de hernieuwbare beschikbaarheid ervan, waardoor zoetwaterbronnen ernstig uitgeput raken. In deze presentatie zal ze meer vertellen over hoe ze deze hotspots heeft geïdentificeerd, en wat de lokale oorzaken, gevolgen en maatregelen zijn die samenhangen met de ontwikkeling van deze hotspots van waterschaarste.
De lezing vindt plaats op 17 juni van 12:45–13:15 in BBG 275. Er is gratis koffie, thee en lunch, en je kunt een SAC-punt verdienen!

In this lecture, Myrthe Leijnse will tell us about her PhD research within the National World Water Map project. 💧
Water scarcity is a major threat to people and ecosystems in many parts of the world. In her PhD research, Myrthe investigates water scarcity hotspots—regions where water demand exceeds the renewable water available, leading to severe depletion of freshwater resources. During this presentation, she will explain how these hotspots have been identified and discuss the local causes, impacts, and mitigation measures associated with their development.
The lecture will take place on 17 June from 12:45 to 13:15 in BBG 275. Free coffee, tea, and lunch will be provided, and you can earn one SAC point!
