Dear members,

This year’s FCE will take us to the beautiful country of Iceland. The trip will last 6 days (5 nights) during which we will visit a few companies and breathtaking Icelandic nature. Some companies with whom we are currently in contact are Nordvulk (Nordic Volcanological Center), who are offering us a volcanic field day to volcanic peninsula close to Reykjavik, the Iceland Drilling Company, with whom we will explore the high temperature geothermal drilling site if it is active that week, and the Iceland Renewable Energy Cluster, which is an umbrella organization for the Icelandic energy industry, specialized in geothermal, wind-, and hydropower. During our stay we will sleep in Reykjavik and make visits to sites such as Thingvellir National Park, geysers, the Gullfoss falls, Skogafoss, Seljalandsfoss and the Secret Lagoon.

This trip will take place somewhere between the 12th and 20th of April and has a target price of €725,-. Accommodation, food and transport are all included! As there are only 20 spots available there will be a selection. The deadline of application is the 5th of January. You can sign up by (1) adding your name to the list hanging in the UAV room OR signing up online through the UAV website AND (2) by handing in a motivational letter via e-mail (fce.utrechtuniversity@gmail.com) before the 5th of January on why you want to join this year’s FCE.

Important date: On the 1st of April we will organize the FCE-kickoff event. This is a sponsoring event in Utrecht for interested companies based in the Netherlands. Attendance is mandatory if you are selected to join the FCE.
